What does it take to be Successful?

The question on the table is: what makes some people get up every day and achieve greatness and other People do Nothing?

Well it may come down to these Three things:

  1. A Target: One the biggest discussion as of lately is that of having no direction or target to hit. The fact that one person is more motivated than the other, it seems is that the one person who is Going for it in their life, is that of a person that has a goal or destination in mind. Now it is something to be said of the height of that Goal or destination that counts in success. I have from my own personal triumphs, have found that I can aim low and get just as low as a result as I set out for or I can aim so high that everyone thinks I am nuts. However when a person aims super high the most often find that they destroy the low goal and end up some where between where they thought was possible and where they thought that they might never get!
  2. Optimism: You must think that you can , a person that looks that the risk to often will never get out of there own way. They analyze the down falls and all the things that cant, wont work or might negative effect their target that they are setting out for, that they crush their own success before ever getting started. Personally I have seen to much of this. As a kid growing up in wheel chairs and hospitals at a young age I was able to see a lot of children and adults living a life that is all too pessimistic. Yeah I know there are times that pessimism creeps into all of our lives but we can make the decision to stay there or not. We all have the ultimate choice to whether or not we are consumed by our lack of faith that anything can happen or we can decide to rise above all the negative thinking, and begin to look at and mentally or physically make a list of all the ways that we can become what we ultimately know we must be.
  3. Action: We Must Take Action. We must take a lot of action. I truly believe that this is the biggest defining factor for people who are succeeding in all that they wish to accomplish. All the fancy books tell you about positive thinking and how to eliminate fear but they don't stress the biggest point of all. IF you don't get up and begin you wont get any where but right where you are!

People are VERY busy. That's why the Gopher is here. Here are 5 quick tips on getting "stuff" done even though you're super busy.
by: Nate Lindquist

1. Shorten your timeline and deadline: According to a little known law called Parkinson's Law - the work required to get something done will increase to fill the time allotted. So, give yourself a drastically shortened deadline and GET IT DONE.

2. Leverage others: People often use the "If I don't do it myself..." excuse for being too busy. Here's the deal. If you try to do it all yourself, then stuff that matters will NOT get the attention it deserves. No attention means key action items get missed and your life becomes crappier and so does your performance. So, GET HELP. Often the small fee or time it takes to delegate to an outside support system is far less painful once you actually do it.

3. Raise accountability: Promise publicly what you intend to do. Pay someone based on YOUR need to perform. Make a game out of it where if you don't perform, you'll have to pay someone a fee if you miss your deadline. This works like a charm. I've offered a team member $100 if I don't create a new web video by "tomorrow at 5pm". I get that video done EVERY time.

4. Have a clear and specific time frame for getting any and all projects done. Just creating a "rough idea" or "a few hours this week-ish" is a recipe for failure and delays. Commit to a timeline and then discipline yourself to cross that finish line on time with all the ingredients in the cake! (you can do this)

5. Results focus: Write a clear set of results your "stuff" must achieve before you begin the "to do" items. Why? Because just getting to do items done often leaves you very busy and short of the ultimate goal or intended result. We've all been there. That day when you have to write an article on your favorite topic... say "being productive" and you write, write, write, but forgot that the objective was to take a strong position on lame excuses we all use. So, the article gets done and shares loads of ways to become productive and NOTHING about lame excuses. Article done, objective missed. Now you've had one of those "I was very busy" days where you actually never hit your objectives for the day. Start with results in mind, then get your ingredients together to bake the cake, then start the baking. Capiche?
